About Audrey Rubin

You stand up for your clients and for your communities? Who stands up for you?

Of course, lawyers hire other lawyers when they need legal representation, but Audrey Rubin discovered that lawyers, just like any other business owners, often need help understanding how to make their firms more profitable.

Audrey wasn’t about to let a need go unmet, so she started working as a law firm consultant to help other lawyers implement and build the systems and processes that would make them more successful.

Audrey is intimately familiar with the struggles of a lawyer working as a partner in a law firm because she spent years working as a partner of a law firm.

Then she moved to the corporate world as a chief legal officer and was introduced to a whole new way of doing business.

Audrey was no stranger to the concept of hard work. She was always an A student who went to Yale for her B.A. and graduated cum laude before going on to Northwestern for her J.D., where she made it onto the Dean’s List.

But her experience in the corporate world taught her that hard work by itself isn’t enough to build a successful business. You also need to be strategic and have a thorough understanding of how your business works so you can identify the things that are holding you back from achieving everything you want, as well as how to break through those barriers.

Audrey started giving presentations and writing articles about how lawyers need to operate their firms more like corporations when a search firm asked her if she wanted to put her money where her mouth is. That’s how she got her first position as Chief Operating Officer of a law firm in Chicago.

She later went on to hold the same position at Aon, managing its international corporate law department, which consisted of 400 people across 28 countries. Finally, she founded her own company as a management consultant so she could help lawyers and other professionals understand how to operate like successful businesses.

Audrey has since gone on to help her clients with a wide range of business challenges, including:

  • Cost Reduction
  • Talent Retention and Efficiency
  • Efficiency of Operations
  • Offshore Services and Alternative Providers
  • Strategic Planning
  • Workshops and Retreats
  • Technology Systems

In addition to helping the lawyers of today understand the secrets of business, Audrey has also been helping the lawyers of tomorrow get ready
to be effective and valuable by teaching The Changing Business of Law at the University of Illinois College of Law.

When she’s not coaching or teaching, Audrey is also a powerful networker and supporter of nonprofit organizations, including Ms. JD, which
works to elevate women in the legal profession. She currently sits on the Boards of Metropolitan Family Services and the GI Research
Foundation. Also, Audrey is Strategic Advisor and Coach at BarkerGilmore and Scholar in Residence at  Legal Lean Sigma Institute.

When she’s off the clock, Audrey’s favorite activities include traveling, enjoying the performing arts (particularly theater), and spending time with
her family.
